Scar Therapy

Scar Therapy is a non-invasive treatment designed to address scar tissue, fibrosis, and adhesions. It involves specialised scar massage, fascial release techniques, and self-care advice to support and encourage healthy recovery.

The RESTORE method has been developed by the UK's leading scar therapy teacher and Harley Street scar specialist, Emma Holly. The RESTORE scar therapy method is used within the NHS and leading private healthcare providers. A course of treatment is usually recommended, but a single session and self-care advice for you to follow at home can be helpful to encourage healthy recovery.

Scar therapy can benefit anyone who has undergone surgery or experienced trauma. It is especially advantageous for individuals prone to pathological scarring. Typical larger scars, adhesions, or excessive fibrosis are due to Hip or Knee replacement, almost all oncologiy scars, especially mastectomies, C-Sections, Transition scars, burn scars or carpal tunnel scars. Several techniques can be employed to stimulate scars and the surrounding areas. 

Our therapy methods work better on immature scars (about 8weeks old), which are totally healed and show no signs of brushing. 

We understand that every individual is different, and their scars need to be treated on a one-to-one basis.

• Foster the healthy development of scar tissue to enhance both functional and cosmetic outcomes.

• Diminish common symptoms associated with scars, such as local pain, itching, sensory dysfunction, and reduced mobility.

Even though the treatment is mainly manual, the use of oils, creams, wax or silicone gel is pretty frequent.

Also, we support the scars with K-tape or silicone band or patches when necessary.

We can't make your scar tissue disappear, but starting early often provides the best cosmetic results. That said, it's never too late—old scars can also benefit from treatment. Results vary, so let's tailor the approach to your unique needs.

Normal scars

• Fine-line scars: A minor wound, like a cut, that heals into a red, raised line 

• Flat scars: A scar that starts slightly raised but flattens out as it heals 

Atrophic scars

• Depressed scars: Sunken scars that look like small indentations or rounded pits 

• Ice pick scars: A type of depressed scar that often occurs on the face 

• Acne scars: A type of depressed scar that can range from shallow to deep 

Hypertrophic scars

• Raised scars that can be itchy and painful 

• Scars that can be felt when running a finger over them 

• Scars that may get smaller over time, but never completely flatten out 

Keloid scars

• Raised scars that are red or purple and often extend beyond the original wound

• Scars that can be painful or itchy

• Scars that can arise from minor injuries, like an insect bite or an ear piercing

Contracture scars

• Scars that occur when a large area of skin is damaged, like from a burn

• Scars that cause the skin to tighten, which can restrict movement

Stretch marks

• Scars that occur when the skin expands or shrinks quickly, like during pregnancy, puberty, or after gaining or losing weight

• Scars that appear as silvery or white streaks and can have a shiny texture
